A Tuai Rumah is elected by the long house for his courage, strength and vision. The election is when the Dayak Iban start to move to a new site and occupy new farming area. The Tuai Rumah will be the person “matak” or “pull” or “literally lead” the people into a new land area – in those days there are many physical danger including tribal war.
